The .38 snub nose revolver is a “classic”, and has a long and highly regarded history. That said, in the past 10+ years, much progress has been made in design, materials, and manufacturing technologies of semi autos. As a “senior” shooter, the best choice is a .38/.357 revolver, as old age makes it too hard to rack a 9mm/.45 slide.. The gun was a mass produced masterpiece. Last weekend I was at a small gun show and a fellow was selling his grandfather’s gentle used mid 50’s production M&P. They had saved the box but the contents otherwise were missing. Grandfather knew a bit about guns as he had a nice trigger shoe installed and opted for smooth factory stocks.
