Why doesn’t diesel filter need bypass valve, but machine filter needs, what’s the difference?

On LS engines the oil filter bypass valve is inside the oil filter housing. It’s removed with a 3/8″ bolt rocked sideways. The purpose of the valve is to all.. The factory check valve can open with oil pressure surges, letting unfiltered oil by and into the bearings. A 1/4-20 threaded hole in the end of our Bypass delete is for easy removal. Just screw a 1/4-20 bolt in and pull the delete out if ever necessary. Better engine protection from less particles bypassing, replaceable High Temperature Viton.

Car makers understand that some owners will never change their oil & filter so they use a bypass design to combat a 35,000 mile filter that’s clogged. Unless a filter is badly clogged or there’s excessive pressure in a small filter, the bypass should not open.
